DESCRIPTION:

Halepçe'den Gelen Sevgili (My Beloved from Halabja) begins in the aftermath of the 1988 Halabja massacre and follows the intertwined lives of Zeynep and Delila across Halabja, Diyarbakır, Istanbul, and Geneva. Zeynep, a Turkish teacher who marries a Kurdish man later killed in an extrajudicial execution, becomes the guardian of Delila, who has lost her entire family in Halabja.

Moving between personal memory, love, exile, and political violence, Suzan Samancı explores how a historical catastrophe continues to shape lives across generations and borders. The novel is at once a story of trauma and displacement and a deeply human meditation on memory, belonging, and the enduring power of love.
