DESCRIPTION:
Svevo is seventy-three years old and lives in his retreat in Molfetta, Puglia: here he dedicates himself to painting, although he is forced to settle for commissions of sacred art coming from politicians he despises. On the occasion of the presentation of his new Madonna, Svevo meets Anna for the first time in person, a talented young harpist used as an unwitting model for his painting. Over the twelve months they spend together, Svevo is deeply affected by the freshness and ambition of the girl, initiating a sentimental journey between Italy and Corsica (where the two will search for Svevo's son, whom he has never known or acknowledged), which will force both to look within themselves by looking at each other. What will Svevo choose when he realizes he is hindering Anna's ambitions and has shrouded her young existence in a veil of melancholy? And will Anna be able to live up to the lesson of her beloved but too much hindered mentor, dedicating herself to nonconformity and the pursuit of freedom?
