A rich client knocks on the door of the most mysterious painter in Paris, a Spanish girl who looks like a little girl and lives locked up in her studio that she only leaves at sunset to walk hidden in the shadows. The buyer wants the painter to reproduce a portrait she made of her mother long before and which is one of her fondest memories from her childhood. She adamantly refuses, she does not intend to waste her time with ruins from the past...

Countless famous writers, poets, musicians and painters gathered in the city’s cafés and clubs, drinking, talking and sharing ideas that would revolutionize the world of art. One of these geniuses was a woman: María Blanchard, a cubist painter, and close friend of Picasso, Juan Gris and Diego Rivera. She went largely unnoticed, though, like a shadow, despite her undeniable creativity and the indelible mark she left in the artistic avant-garde.  

Through a moving story, full of intrigue and emotion, combining real elements with fictional ones, "María Blanchard: como una sombra" recreates the human trail and the artistic work of this unique painter, reconstructing her unique vision of painting as form of spiritual retreat, and offering details of an overflowing humanity that made her approach the outcasts of society, beggars, prostitutes, poor and crippled, to whom she opened the doors of her home, gave food and shelter and whom she sensitively portrayed.
